Congratulations to Viktoria Dorfer, PhD!

We are extremely proud to announce that our colleague Viktoria has received her doctoral degree from the Johannes Kepler University Linz! The rigorosum for her doctoral thesis „Identification of Peptides and Proteins in High Resolution Tandem Mass Spectrometry Data” took place at the last Tuesday. Viktoria has dedicated her PhD research to the identification of peptide sequences from tandem mass spectrometry, a task extensively discussed in proteomics research. The software she has developed for this purpose, in particular the peptide search engine MS Amanda, is able to reliably identify more peptides than other frequently used algorithms, and is by now used in research laboratories around the world.

Viktoria’s rigorosum was a great success, her talk was regarded excellent by the committee, and she was extremely convincing and competent in answering the examiners’ questions. We all congratulate Viktoria on this great achievement!
