Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a non-invasive alternative to more conventional treatment methods to promote pain relief and tissue repair.
In our shared projects with the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Traumatology, we design algorithms for appropriate computer simulations, visualizations, and case studies to improve the efficiency of shockwave therapy treatments and drive its research forward. Primarily, through the introduction of artificial intelligence and optimization methodologies, new insights in ESWT are gathered.
Within our cooperation, we develop methods to optimize the design of reflector designs to increase shockwave therapy sessions, conduct fundamental studies of the physical properties, and find new ways of visualizing shockwave treatment zones to advance education and understanding of treatment procedures.
