MOderne PatiEnt:innenabrechnung und Datenkommunikation

The project MOPED is an Austrian-wide initiative to investigate possibilities for harmonizing hospital accounting and reporting to other actors of the healthcare system. In a first proof of concept (POC), moped brings together hospital providers, health insurance, and the state health fund to identify current processes and ultimately recognize similarities in data elements and workflows.

Based on those findings, our team of BIN health data scientists is working on a recommendation for a standardized state-of-the-art FHIR data model that can provide the basis for accessing the necessary data at the correct time by the correct actors, while aiming to minimize administrative burden. Together with our project partner ELGA, we are creating a FHIR implementation guide to describe how the involved parties could provide and use information from a common standardized pool of data.
