Currently, Susanne is travelling around the United States of America attending several conferences and visiting biotech companies.
First she visited Grifols in Emeryville, California. Grifols is a global healthcare company dedicated to improving the health and well-being of people around the world. The company was established in Barcelona, Spain and currently they are leading producers of plasma-derived medicines. Susi was taken on an incredibly interesting guided tour through the research and development department and their laboratories by Christian von Toerne, who is head of project management in Emeryville. It was awesome and very interesting, it was really a pleasure to meet Chris again. Thanks a lot for this experience!
Now, Susanne is in San Diego attending the Immunology conference, the 103rd annual meeting of the American Association of Immunologists (AAI). There were a numerous outstanding talks and inspiring discussions on current topics covering the whole immune system, lymphocyte development, basic autoimmunity, cytokines and cell-based immunotherapy, interactions of innate and adaptive immune cells that promote autoimmunity, and many more.
Her next stop will be East Lansing, where the Genetic Programming Theory & Practice XVII workshop will take place. For the first time, GPTP will be hosted at the BEACON Center for the Study of Evolution in Action at Michigan State University. There Susi is also going to meet several colleagues from Hagenberg, namely Stephan, Jonas and Lukas Kammerer from the HEAL research group.
